The Parc des Carrières landscape park is currently being built between Allschwil, Hegenheim, Saint-Louis and Basel. So far largely a terra incognita, the landscape space is now developing strongly. Settlement projects, commercial areas, transport infrastructure - and right in the middle the Parc des Carrières as a "green chamber" with new footpaths and cycle paths, natural areas and places for encounters and biodiversity. Gravel mining plays a central role here - as a motor for the transformation.
The tour starts at the Innovation Garage in Allschwil and leads across the national border into the open fields and gravel landscape on the French side. After impressions of the first implementation stage and the imposing gravel pit, the path goes back to the starting point.
