As part of the construction of the new water reservoir for the city of Basel on the Bruderholz, an associated operations building was also built. Of the enormous construction volume of the water reservoir, only one storey of the operations building is visible above ground as the only part of the facility. The aim was to integrate the building into the park and give this public space a new character.
Guided tours for small groups are offered on an ongoing basis. Waiting times must be expected. Each tour starts outside with an explanation of the architectural concept by architect Jürg Berrel. Thomas Meier, Head of Water Production at IWB, accompanies the groups through the reservoir and explains the operation.
