The exhibition at S AM uses large-scale models, images and installations to show how the two cities shape their urban environment.
Based on the city partnership and Basel's participation in the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2023, the exhibition presents Basel's contribution to the Biennale and the 100-year masterplan developed in Seoul.
Seoul's unique approach to integrating public spaces into private areas is also shown with works on the Han River and its tributaries (with contributions from Seoul's planning department and professors Choon Choi, Pilsoo Maing and architect Yerin Kang) as well as buildings by Basel based firms (Herzog & de Meuron and Burckhardt). The exhibition, curated by MIDERI and organized by Cantonal and Urban Development of Basel-Stadt, focuses on how the two cities can learn from each other.
Guided tours of the exhibition with MIDERI ARCHITEKTEN on Saturday 7 September at 11 am, Wednesday 11 September at 4 pm and Saturday 14 September at 11 am.
