Nevena Torboski

NEVENA TORBOSKI studied architecture at the HTL Muttenz/Basel until 1995. Until 2007, she worked as a project architect, scenographer and/or in PR in various architecture firms in Switzerland, either as an employee or on a project-related basis. Since 2006, she has been an expert in the team for final apprenticeship examinations for drawing specialising in architecture in Basel-Stadt. In 2013 she joined the Swiss Werkbund Nordwestschweiz and in 2022 the Frau+SIA Regional Group Basel network. In 2007, she started her first official architectural mediation work, where she developed and led various architecture workshops, especially for kids, until the founding of the drumrum Raumschule association. In 2010, Nevena Torboski founded the non-profit organisation drumrum Raumschule-Baukultur mit Kindern und Jugendlichen with architects and other construction culturalists. Since the association was founded, she has been the project developer, director and (CO) president of the drumrum Raumschule, where she realises experimental and participatory projects in the field of building culture education in cooperation with drumrum Baukulturists and/or other institutions and plays a leading role in the strategic development of the drumrum Raumschule. For her, teaching architecture and building culture means empowering children and young people in a process-oriented way to recognise the values, deficits and opportunities of their built environment, to form their own judgements and to encourage them to get involved and participate in building culture design processes.
