Just a few steps away from the Basel trade fair, but it feels miles away from the glamour of the art fair, is the Goldene Fass. A corner house in the middle of the petit bourgeois milieu of Kleinbasel, partly overgrown with ivy, partly sprayed with graffiti. If you want to eat well in Basel, this is the place to go. Here you can meet older regulars, young scene people and clientele from Kleinbasel. Head chef Gilbert Engelhard cooks market-fresh food and bakes the bread himself. After dinner, you can move on to the Fassbar, the hippest bar in Basel.
