Beat Gysin

Beat Gysin (*1968) studied piano, chemistry, composition (Th. Kessler, H. Kyburz) and music theory (R. Moser, D. Müller-Siemens) in Basel. The composer comes from a family of musicians and since his youth has written over fifty works (some of which have won prizes) for various instrumentations, from solo to orchestral works.

He is particularly interested in the spatiality of music. At the intersection of music and architecture, he designs projects that explore three-dimensional hearing and its connections to musical listening. He invents pavilions that enable special listening arrangements. He seeks specific connections between music and space in unusual performance venues.
