Stefan Marbach

Stefan Marbach is a Senior Partner at Herzog & de Meuron. He has led and realised a number of high profile national and international projects, such as Prada Aoyama, Miu Miu Aoyama, and Uniqlo Tokyo in Japan, New Hall for Messe Basel, Beirut Terraces, and several projects for Ricola in Laufen – including the Kräuterzentrum. A particular focus is the design of stadia including the National Stadium in Beijing, St. Jakob Park in Basel, and the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux. He has extensive expertise in office buildings, as well as laboratory and research facilities, including Roche Building 1 in Basel, AstraZeneca’s The Discovery Centre in Cambridge, and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology in Moscow. He is currently responsible for the GRID and HORTUS projects in Allschwil.

Stefan Marbach first joined Herzog & Meuron in 1991 after completing his apprenticeship as a draftsman. From 1993to 1997, he studied architecture at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz in Muttenz and at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH in Stockholm. He rejoined Herzog & de Meuron 1997 and has been a Senior Partner since 2009.
